Free Master’s Thesis Idea

New, previously unheard melodies of Chopin, Mozart, Monteverdi and Schubert are instantly recognizable to the ear of anyone who has heard enough of others; the reason why must be that each is ruled by a particular algorythm; which can be expressed as a polynomial (ax + bx2 +cx3…); graph-fitting can be used to approximate the values of a, b, c. Each polynomial is a property of the brain of the particular composer. Would it not be fascinating to know that Chopin’s melodies all have the structure of, say, 3x – (3/17)x2 +(1/2)x3?
